Long ago, when I finished undergraduate school, I came across a book of Canadian Impressionism--I think that was the subject, but I can't be sure, so much time has passed.
I do remember the cover was a landscape or tree that seemed outlined in
red. That fragmented, but powerful, visual memory led to the
inspiration of using oil pastels with my sprayed pigment technique.
This painting was the result.
Many people have said this painting
reminds them of a pine tree in Monterey(?). I am glad that this work
evokes pleasant memories of a beautiful spot, however it was inspired.
Someday I hope to see the real thing!
