At
the corner, where we have always walked our dogs, are four stately
carob trees. The street's pavement is a mess from their roots, but the
shade is dense, and the pods they drop are a beautiful, organic
form--full of curves and rhythm. I used them to make two "carob-bean" dance paintings, this, the hotter of the two, and Calypso.
The truth: when I finished the two paintings, they were too much of a
good thing! I ended up dividing each into several smaller paintings,
thus the "various" dimension citation.
