Andy Mihalso has
been a dear friend of the family since my sister studied under him at
Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. He used to take my
grandmother to movies--and then to Luby's for mashed potatoes! In
2002, Andy decided to "downsize" his lifestyle, moving from a
single-family home to an apartment. My sister, Elaine, wanted to
commemorate this event and "warm" his new home with a commissioned
painting. This piece was the first of two I created for that
objective. In this work, I have conflated the ideas of the grand
piano, love, opera, health, and twilight.
