It is a tradition, my grandmother told me, to hang a painting of flowers in a vase in Chinese homes. The reason for this is that the word for "vase," ping, is the same as for "peace." I was motivated by this memory of my grandmother to create this painting, one of the very first I ever sold. Coincidentally(?) my Chinese name also includes ping, with the meaning of "peace."
